OUR CURRENT SHOW
Douglas DeVivo~Collage Not just pretty paper.
I paint with paper, creating depth and shadow from bits of written history, old illustrated technology, and slivers of our personal histories.
My process is quick and instinctual. There is something meditative about spending hours cutting and laying paper.
I hide the meaning of collage behind layers of colorful and fun imagery making it comfortable to engage the piece, start to take in the depth, and the ever-changing perspectives.
My collages hit people on so many different levels. People stop and look, drawn in and engaged in a rich visual history and depth. I invoke memories and questions, encourage looking forever and always see something new.
